Meet the Team – Rachel Hatley

Hi!

My name is Rachel Hatley, I am 21 years old and currently undertaking my postgraduate MSc degree in Sports Marketing. I come from Nottingham, in the UK, where I was introduced to sport at a very young age. At the age of 3 I was a very keen ballet dancer, I even started competing at 4 years old. My interest in sport grew from there, as I got older I participated in more and more sports, such as; tennis, netball and cheerleading, though I always kept dance at the centre of my interests.

It was this interest in sport that led me to pursue a degree in Sport Event Management at Leeds Beckett University, and then to further my studies now at a postgraduate level. My Undergrad was particularly interesting to me as I knew I was interested in a career within the sports event industry, however as I made my way into the final year of my course it became apparent to me that my main interests lay within the marketing of such events. Although, I am not 100% sure of where I wish to take my career path, I am so glad I made the decision to undertake this course and further develop my marketing skills. I hope to even further my skills this year as I undertake my placement at Hunslet Rugby League Football Club, a role that I hope will extend my knowledge past those sports that I am already comfortable with into a whole new world of sports marketing, an experience which will undoubtably aid me in understanding what job I would like to do after the completion of my masters.
