Hi everyone!
Let’s talk sport
My name is Lenka Koubkova, and I’m a postgraduate student with a First Class Diploma in Sport Business and Management who is super excited about broadening the knowledge in the Sport Marketing area.
I have been passionate about sports since I was a little girl. Everything started on the athletics track when I was 6 years old and since then my love for sport only grew. My dream has always been to experience athletics on the big stage. After realisation that it won’t happen on the actual track I decided to see it more as an opportunity and explore the sports world from the other side. It has become so much of an interest that it even brought me outside of my home country, Czechia, to study in the UK.
Completing my degree at the University of Worcester led me to secure a year-long work experience within the marketing industry in Barcelona as a part of the “study abroad” scheme. That experience brought me deeper inside into many variations of marketing and developed my creative, problem solving and time management skills. It has proved to me that this is the field I would like to explore more in-depth in the future.
The following year I worked as a Marketing and Project assistant on a project called Kemp Vitezu, which organises summer sports camps for children around the Czech Republic. This position was super enriching and enjoyable and allowed me to communicate with heads of cities, schools, parents, and establish sponsorship deals. However, due to the need to put more focus on my dissertation work covering the Self-presentation of athletes on social media, I had to sadly put that aside.
Nevertheless, by combining my dedication and love for athletics, I hope all of the gained knowledge in the postgraduate programme will bring me to the position of securing a job within the sports marketing industry, preferably in the digital and online world focusing on generating content for a sports club, organisation and one day make it to the Olympics.
Thank you for finding time to get to know me a little bit more. I can not wait to dive into the topics covering NBC’s shift to digital platforms and the collaboration with influencers during the 2024 Paris Olympics. I aim to bring you insights into how these creators shaped Olympic stories, boosted fan engagement, and connected with diverse audiences, plus how their partnerships impacted NBC’s business. You can also be looking forward to the podcast and audio episodes discussing the comparison of digital creators with traditional journalists and exploring the rise of short-form content,
